Training & Upcoming Events

NCLC offers a number of training opportunities for attorneys and other advocates interested in learning more about student loan issues.

Monthly Student Loan Training for Attorneys

NCLC hosts monthly meetings for legal aid advocates who are interested in learning more about student loan law, currently handle student loan cases, or want to stay up to date on the latest student loan news. Meetings include trainings on various student loan topics and are held over Zoom on the third Tuesday of the month, from 1:00 pm EST to 2:30 pm ET. To attend these meetings, you must first sign up for the legal aid student loan listserv at this link: www.nclc.org/listservs.

The recordings and materials from previous trainings are free and viewable to legal aid attorneys, NACA attorneys, and attendees of recent NCLC conferences. To access these materials, visit NCLC’s Student Loans Practice Suite.  For assistance, contact publications@nclc.org.

Student Loan Training for Financial Counselors & Other Professionals

NCLC is offering a new, free virtual training series across five webinars in 2026 to equip financial counselors and other professionals with the practical knowledge needed to advise clients on major student loan changes, including dealing with collections, understanding repayment options, and navigating forgiveness and discharge programs. Registrants will receive copies of webinar recordings and materials. For more information, visit our page on training for financial counselors and other professionals.

Annual Conferences

The Consumer Law Educational Events Series includes the nation’s preeminent in-person conferences and trainings for consumer attorneys, produced by National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) and the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA). The series provides comprehensive training regarding critical issues in consumer law, including the latest developments and trends; strategies and tactics for effectively representing your clients; and opportunities to network with and learn from the leaders in the field.
